Song Hye Kyo shared insights about her demanding prayer scenes in Dark Nuns during a production presentation held on Monday at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Seoul. The event was attended by director Kwon Hyuk Jae along with stars Song Hye Kyo, Jeon Yeo Been, Lee Jin Wook, and Moon Woo Jin.
During the event, Song explained her rigorous preparation: “Since it was a scene where I had to fight evil spirits while reciting prayers, I had to nail both the emotions and lines. I would practice reading them as soon as I woke up, while showering, and even while doing dishes,” adding, “I wanted to make sure the lines would come out naturally at any moment.”
She continued, “As the emotions intensified during the fights with evil spirits, I found myself tensing up,” revealing that “There were moments when my body would go rigid.” She admitted, “Acting has always been challenging, and this project was no exception—it was truly a challenge.”
“Since the exorcism is the highlight scene, I worried and thought a lot about the emotions, wondering if I was building them up properly step by step,” Song shared, adding that “The exorcism scenes were the most challenging both emotionally and physically.”
Dark Nuns follows the story of the nuns who undertake a forbidden ritual to save a young boy possessed by a powerful evil spirit. As the second installment in The Priests series, the film generates anticipation with its unique premise of nuns performing unauthorized exorcisms. The film is set to release on January 24th, 2025.
