BABYMONSTER is Spotify’s latest RADAR KOREA artist!
2024 has been a successful year for YG Entertainment’s newest girl group BABYMONSTER, who placed No. 18 on Spotify’s list of most-streamed K-pop artists this year. “SHEESH” from their first mini album “BABYMONS7ER” was also the No. 15 most-streamed K-pop song of the year.
Last month, Spotify announced that BABYMONSTER has been selected as the newest RADAR KOREA artist. Spotify’s RADAR program is a global initiative created to support emerging artists on their journeys to superstardom. By providing tailored resources, RADAR helps artists at every stage of their development, while strengthening their connections with fans and new listeners.
Along with this campaign, BABYMONSTER held a RADAR LIVE event on November 27, playing fun games and also showing off their excellent talents for fans.
Following the event, BABYMONSTER took time to speak with Soompi about their experience with the campaign, their latest album “DRIP,” their upcoming world tour, and more.

How does it feel to be selected as a RADAR artist?
It’s such an honor! Being chosen as a RADAR artist is like a dream come true for us. Spotify has such a global impact, and knowing they believe in our music and potential means so much. We’re really excited to connect with fans all over the world through this campaign.
What’s your favorite part about your RADAR campaign?
The best part is seeing our music introduced to new audiences! We’ve been able to share more of our story, personality, and sound, which feels really special. Also, the RADAR LIVE event was such an incredible experience—getting to interact with fans in a more intimate way was unforgettable.
What do you hope your fans and new listeners will discover about BABYMONSTER through the RADAR campaign?
We hope they can see our passion for music. We pour so much of ourselves into every song, so it’d be great if our fans and new listeners can feel the energy, emotion, and creativity that define BABYMONSTER. Whether it’s our choreography or lyrics, we hope they connect with us in their own way.
How was your experience with the RADAR LIVE event?
It was unforgettable! Interacting with fans in such an up-close setting made it feel really personal. The energy in the room was amazing, and we felt so connected to everyone there. It was also a great opportunity to showcase new sides of ourselves.
One of our favorite moments was when we had to fish cassette tapes out of a pool! We used all kinds of tools to grab as many tapes as we could. It was so special, not just because it was an entertaining and fun activity, but because we were able to gift those tapes and tools to our fans, MONSTIEZ!
For those still getting to know more about BABYMONSTER—can you each introduce and describe the charms of another member of the group?
RORA on CHIQUITA: When CHIQUITA is practicing, we can’t help but tease her, saying “Oh, baby~” because she’s so cute. But when she’s on stage, she sincerely amazes us with her captivating expressions and gestures. She’s a natural!
CHIQUITA on ASA: ASA is all about rap! She’s incredibly skilled and undeniably cool. When she’s on stage, she completely owns it and blows everyone away. She’s truly born for the stage!
ASA on RUKA: She really stands out with her dancing. Her movements and power are exceptional, and the unique style and hip hop vibe she brings are something only RUKA can pull off.
RUKA on AHYEON: AHYEON is very multi-talented. She’s skilled in languages like Chinese and English, and equally talented in dancing, vocals, and rap. It feels like she’s full of endless talent!
AHYEON on PHARITA: PHARITA always seems so composed on stage, effortlessly fulfilling her role with great dedication and stability. I believe her unique voice is unmatched, and it’s one of the things that I’m proudest of in our team. She also has a comforting presence that brings a sense of ease and reassurance to everyone around her.
PHARITA on RAMI: RAMI is truly an all-rounder. MONSTIEZ already knows how great she is at singing, but she’s also amazing at rapping, dancing, and on top of that, she’s absolutely gorgeous!
RAMI on RORA: I personally think RORA’s voice is incredibly charming, especially when she sings the intro of our songs with her soft tone. And of course, she has such graceful beauty as well!
How would you describe the sounds of your latest album?
“DRIP” is our bold statement of who we are and where we’re heading. Building on the success of “BABYMONS7ER,” we’ve explored new sounds, from the YG hip hop vibe of “DRIP” to the laid-back flow of “CLIK CLAK.” This album also showcases emotional depth in “Love, Maybe,” groove in “Really Like You,” and confidence in “BILLIONAIRE.” We’ve included our free-spirited single “FOREVER” and the exclusive stage track “BATTER UP (Remix),” making it a total of nine tracks. “DRIP” is the perfect mix of everything we love, reflecting our unstoppable journey.
What was the most memorable part of the album production process for “DRIP”?
One of the most memorable parts of producing “DRIP” was recording the vocals. Each track had its own vibe, and we really pushed ourselves to experiment with new styles and emotions to match the energy of the songs. Another unforgettable moment was brainstorming concepts for the album—we wanted everything, from the visuals to the sounds, to feel bold and authentic to who we are. It was such a creative and exciting process!
How was it performing as guests at the 2NE1 concert?
It was such a surreal and inspiring experience! 2NE1 are legends, and to share the stage with them was a huge honor. Their energy and presence were so inspiring, and it motivated us to push even harder in our own journey.
What song are you most excited to perform on your first concert tour?
We’re so excited to perform “DRIP”! It’s such a high-energy track, and we can already imagine how amazing it’ll feel with the fans singing along. We’re also looking forward to performing some of our softer, more emotional songs for a more intimate vibe.
Which genre of music do you personally enjoy listening to or want to perform in the future?
As BABYMONSTER, we love exploring a mix of genres that allow us to show different sides of our music and personality. We’re especially drawn to genres like pop, hip hop, and R&B because they give us the chance to combine powerful vocals, sharp rap lines, and dynamic performances. In the future, we’re excited to keep experimenting with these styles while adding our own unique flavor to connect with fans around the world!
What are your goals or hopes for next year?
We hope to grow even more as artists and performers. Touring internationally has been a huge dream, and we’re truly excited to start off next year with our world tour. We also want to release more music that resonates with fans. Most importantly, we want to continue building meaningful connections with our audience.
