Celebrities participating in candlelight protests have drawn attention amid calls for the president’s impeachment.

South Korean police reported that approximately 107,000 people gathered near the National Assembly in Yeouido on December 7th to demand President Yoon’s resignation. However, protest organizers claimed the turnout was closer to one million.
Among the demonstrators were several prominent figures from the entertainment industry, including actors, singers, producers, and dancers.

Go Ah Sung took to Instagram Stories, sharing a photo from her journey to Yeouido with the caption: “Not because I hate Korea, because I need to save Korea.”
Ok Ja Yeon also joined the protest, posting a photo of the scene and describing it as “small yet numerous lights.” Earlier, she had shared author Han Kang’s remarks about the recent “martial law” controversy on Instagram.

Shin So Yul shared photos from the protest, directly criticizing People Power Party lawmakers for abstaining from the impeachment vote. “Please vote. How could this happen?” she wrote.
Nam Ki Hyung, known for his role in 12.12: The Day, posted a video of himself at the rally, while actor Jin Ho Eun shared a photo taken in front of the National Assembly, captioned, “As the sun rises today.”

Lee El also documented her involvement, posting a photo of her back as she headed to the protest and writing, “Warmed up and heading back to the National Assembly!”
Other celebrities who confirmed their participation through social media included Lee Joo Young, Nam Yoon Su, producer Yoon Il Sang, rapper Geegooin, and model Choi Jung Jin.
Despite the massive turnout, the impeachment motion against President Yoon was dismissed due to a lack of quorum following a boycott by the People Power Party. Opposition parties have vowed to pursue a second impeachment motion immediately.
