The Trunk is a mystery romance centered on a secretive marriage service that gets uncovered when a trunk washes ashore, revealing the strange marriage. Seo Hyun Jin stars as No In Ji, a woman who ends up working for the mysterious marriage service.
One of the most talked-about scenes features Gong Yoo’s character, Han Jeong Won, confessing his feelings to No In Ji with the line, “I want to sleep with you.” Seo Hyu Jin admitted with a laugh, “I really liked that scene too. We talked on set about how challenging it was, but honestly, I couldn’t tell Gong Yoo was struggling with it at all.”

She also highlighted her appreciation for No In Ji’s unconventional response to the confession: “‘I’ll keep that in mind’ isn’t the kind of reply you often say in moments like that. It’s not a straightforward yes or no—it’s more of a ‘save’ response. It perfectly reflects who No In Ji is, someone who pauses and evaluates rather than giving an immediate answer.” Seo added, “I didn’t have many lines in that moment, so I just focused on how Jeong Won (Gong Yoo) delivered his dialogue,” she said, brushing off Gong Yoo’s compliments about her dedication to the performance.
Seo Hyun Jin shared that she lost a significant amount of weight while preparing for The Trunk, with one scene highlighting her visibly prominent neck bones becoming a hot topic among viewers. Reflecting on this, she shared, “I lost more weight than usual—probably about 4 to 5kg (8 to 11 pounds). I didn’t weigh myself exactly, but even I could tell I looked thinner. It seems to have stood out more than usual,” she added with a laugh.

In The Trunk, Seo also had to portray her character as a college student. Laughing about the challenge, she joked, “I felt a little guilty about it. I kept apologizing, but thankfully, the post-production team promised to work their magic. I know Gong Yoo apologized for his part!”
