The upcoming comedy film Fairy Tale but Rated R (literal title) has confirmed its January release and revealed a cheeky new poster.
Fairy Tale but Rated R tells the story of Dan Bi, an aspiring children’s author who works as an obscenity inspector. When an unexpected twist forces her to write erotica, Dan Bi discovers a surprising talent for crafting risqué stories. The title cleverly underscores the contrast between her innocent dream and her unexpected dive into R-rated fiction, sparking curiosity about her hilarious journey.
The launch poster features Park Ji Hyun as Dan Bi, fully embracing the role. Set against a bubblegum pink backdrop, her playful yet mischievous expression teases the chaos that unfolds as her “naughty muse” awakens. The tagline, “The pervert inside me has awakened,” hints at Dan Bi’s wild imagination and promises laugh-out-loud moments.
The film boasts a standout cast, including Park Ji Hyun, Choi Si Won, and Sung Dong Il, further building anticipation. Park Ji Hyun stars as Dan Bi, a rookie obscenity inspector whose dream of becoming a children’s author is derailed when she racks up 1 billion KRW ($750,000 USD) in debt. Desperate, she turns to writing erotica. This marks Park’s first comedic role, showcasing her versatility as an actress.
Choi Si Won plays Jung Seok, a senior obscenity inspector stuck in a rut. As Dan Bi’s superior, he not only helps her navigate her job but also finds a renewed sense of purpose. Meanwhile, Sung Dong Il delivers his signature comedic flair as Hwang, a publishing CEO and veteran in the world of erotica, who is searching for his next breakout writer.
Fairy Tale but Rated R is set to hit theaters on January 8th, 2025.
