Park Bo Young has been confirmed to star in a new drama. According to an exclusive report by Star News on November 26th, she will take the lead in a series titled Goldland (literal translation).
Goldland centers on Korea’s first domestic casino, built in a struggling coal mining region to boost the local economy. Set in the turbulent era, the drama delves into the lives of people connected to the gambling house.
Park Bo Young will play Kim Hee Joo, a woman born into hardship who begins working at Goldland. There, she falls in love with a man, but their romance takes a dark twist when they become entangled in an attempted murder involving a stash of mysterious gold bars. Kim Hee Joo must navigate the challenges of protecting both her love and her newfound wealth.
The drama will be helmed by Confidential Assignment and Rampant director Kim Sung Hoon and penned by Memoir of a Murderer and Rampant writer Hwang Jo Yoon. Discussions are ongoing about its distribution, with streaming being the most likely option.
Meanwhile, Park Bo Young is gearing up for the release of her Disney Plus original drama Light Shop, premiering on December 4th.
