The upcoming film “About Family” has revealed several compelling reasons why audiences should save the date for its premiere!

“About Family” tells the story of the owner of Pyungmanok, a popular dumpling restaurant, who suddenly finds himself living with unexpected guests—two adorable grandchildren he never knew he had. Ham Moo Ok (Kim Yun Seok), the owner of the restaurant, believed his family line had ended when his son Ham Moon Seok (Lee Seung Gi) became a monk.

With the premiere just around the corner, here are three key reasons to look forward to the film:

A unique plot full of surprises

The film grabs attention with its surprising and quirky storyline. The plot centers around a monk who unexpectedly becomes a father through sperm donation. Set in a place called Pyungmanok, the story features a diverse group of characters—Ham Moo Ok, Ham Moon Seok, Mrs. Bang (Kim Sung Ryung), Han Ga Yeon (Kang Han Na), and In Haeng (Park Soo Young)—whose relationships, shaped by family, business, and friendship, add intrigue and humor. The arrival of siblings Min Guk (Kim Si Woo) and Min Seon (Yoon Chae Na) further complicates the already tangled family dynamics.

Set in the 2000s, a time both familiar and distant, “About Family” brings the era to life, blending nostalgia with a rich and entertaining narrative.

A heartfelt comedy that will make you laugh and cry

“About Family” will captivate audiences in theaters as a heartwarming family comedy in the likes of “Scandal Makers” and “Miracle in Cell No. 7.” Directed by Yang Woo Seok, known for his relatable storytelling in “The Attorney,” the film centers on the theme of family and is expected to resonate deeply with audiences. As with most comedies, its true charm shines when watched with others, making the film a great choice for all generations. Filled with humor and emotional moments, the film is set to spark strong word-of-mouth praise and provide a memorable cinematic experience.

Strong performances of actors across three generations

“About Family” features an impressive cast spanning three generations, from veteran actor Kim Yun Seok to young talents discovered through auditions. Known for his relatable charm in films like “Punch” and “The Classified File,” Kim Yun Seok adds even more depth to his role. Lee Seung Gi, with his strong acting skills honed in both dramas and films, adds significant power to the story. Kim Sung Ryung, Kang Han Na, and Park Soo Young round out the cast, delivering solid performances that anchor the film.

Newcomers Kim Si Woo and Yoon Chae Na, playing siblings Min Guk and Min Seon, bring a natural, believable chemistry to their roles. Finally, Lee Soon Jae adds credibility with his presence, playing a key role in enhancing the emotional depth of the film.

“About Family” is set to hit theaters on December 11.
