Kim Junsu’s agency has announced strong legal action against malicious commenters and posts.

On November 19, Kim Junsu’s agecny PALMTREE ISLAND released the following statement:

Hello, this is PALMTREE ISLAND.

First and foremost, we sincerely thank you for your unwavering interest and support for Kim Junsu. Our company takes all acts of defamation, malicious slander, the dissemination of false information, and personal attacks against our artist very seriously.

Accordingly, we have appointed the law firm Kim & Chang to initiate strong legal action. Malicious slander, defamatory posts, and the spread of baseless rumors are considered clear criminal acts, and we will take strong civil and criminal measures without any settlement or leniency.

We have already secured sufficient evidence related to these matters and are proceeding with legal procedures based on this evidence. We are also thoroughly collecting additional data on the ongoing malicious posts and the dissemination of false information, and all the collected materials have already been submitted to the law firm.

We are particularly focusing on monitoring malicious posts on specific online communities such as DC Inside, TheQoo, Instiz, Daum Cafe, and Nate Pann. We clearly state that if anyone continues to engage in malicious acts against our artist by exploiting anonymity, we will respond strongly through legal action without any understanding or leniency.

Furthermore, we are thoroughly investigating the actions of certain netizens who continue to spread indiscriminate false information and distorted criticism, and we will handle all confirmed cases strictly through legal procedures.

We will continue to do our utmost to protect the rights and interests of our artist, and we thank you for your continued interest and cooperation.

Recently, it was reported that Kim Junsu was blackmailed by a female BJ (broadcaster jockey) through 101 instances of threats from September 2020 to last month. On November 15, the Gyeonggi Northern Provincial Police Agency announced that they arrested and forwarded the BJ to the prosecution on charges of extortion under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes.
