The latest episode of tvN’s Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born delivered an emotional punch as Moon So Ri finally gave her blessing to Kim Tae Ri’s ambitions, driving the drama to a new series-high rating.

According to Nielsen Korea, Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born‘s episode 10, which aired on November 10th, recorded an impressive 14.1% nationwide average rating, peaking at 15.5%, securing its spot as the top show across all networks in its timeslot. This also marks the show’s highest ratings.

The episode opened with Yeong Seo (Shin Ye Eun) politely declining Ok Kyung (Jung Eun Chae) ‘s offer to join her to leave the theater company, instead choosing to await Jeong Nyeon (Kim Tae Ri) return as her true rival and friend. As the two performers’ rivalry deepened, it became clear that Jeong Nyeon had earned Yeong Seo’s respect, solidifying their bond.

The long-anticipated joint performance of The Fool and the Princess then unfolded, with rapturous applause closing the first show. Yet, a shocking twist soon followed: Ok Kyung, absent during the curtain call, had left behind both the theater company and traditional theater itself, departing for the film industry without a word.

Then, one night, Jeong Nyeon’s mother Yong Rye (Moon So Ri) sees her daughter sneaking outside alone, singing a line from Chunhyangjeon with her characteristic, raspy voice. Moved by Jeong Nyeon’s dedication, Yong Rye changed her stance, and at dawn, she took Jeong Nyeon to the beach to tell her of a renowned singer who overcame the same vocal challenges she faced. She asked, “With what will you fill your empty voice?”—acknowledging and supporting Jeong Nyeon’s journey as a singer.

In a powerful closing scene, Yong Rye faced the rising sun and, for the first time in years, sang the mournful Chuwolmanjeong, letting her voice carry the sorrow of her past—a moment that left viewers in tears.
