Director Yang Woo Seok, known for hits like The Attorney and Steel Rain, is back with his new comedy About Family, set to premiere on December 11th. The newly released teaser poster and trailer give fans a first glimpse into this family dramedy.
About Family follows Ham Moo Ok (Kim Yun Seok), the owner of a beloved dumpling restaurant, Pyeongmanok, who’s thrown into an uproar when his son (Lee Seung Gi) becomes a monk, seemingly ending the family line. But when Ham unexpectedly gains adorable grandchildren, the family’s fate takes a turn toward hilariously chaotic cohabitation.
In the teaser poster, Kim Yun Seok transforms into the dedicated dumpling master Ham Moo Ok. The tagline, “38 years of dumpling tradition on the line—will it be preserved or crumble?” paired with Kim’s solemn expression as he meticulously folds dumplings, creates a lighthearted contrast that hints at the film’s comedy.
The trailer opens by showing Ham Moo Ok running his bustling shop. The scene then shifts to a live radio broadcast featuring his son, Ham Mun Seok, now the head monk. A nationwide stir ensues when it’s announced on air that his son has a child, setting the stage for the comedic journey that About Family promises to deliver. The trailer highlights the unusual family dynamic and hints at great chemistry between Kim Yun Seok and Lee Seung Gi, with Seung Gi embracing a shaved head to play the role of a monk.
About Family is set to hit theaters nationwide on December 11th.
