Director Jang Joon Ho has stepped down from MBC’s upcoming drama “Motel California” (literal title) due to personal matters.
On October 24, an industry insider reported that Jang Hoon Ho, the main director of the drama “Motel California,” stepped down from the project.
In response to the report, a source from MBC confirmed, “Director Jang Joon Ho, who was the main director of ‘Motel California,’ has stepped down due to personal reasons.” The drama is now set to be led by co-director Kim Hyung Min.
Based on Shim Yoon Seo’s 2019 novel “Home, Bitter Home” (literal title), “Motel California” follows the story of a woman who grows up in a rural motel called “Motel California.” After escaping her hometown, she returns 12 years later to reconnect with her first love and face new challenges.
Lee Se Young stars as Ji Kang Hee, who reunites with her first love in her hometown, while Na In Woo portrays Cheon Yeon Soo, who falls into a fate-like first love with Ji Kang Hee.
The production team remarked, “‘Motel California’ captures the nostalgic feelings of first love that everyone holds in their hearts, wrapped in a delightful story filled with plot twists.”
