Kim Young Dae is stepping out of his comfort zone, shedding his familiar image to deliver a striking, intense look in his latest photoshoot for Allure Korea. Released on October 23rd, the pictorial follows the conclusion of his recent tvN drama No Gain No Love. Throughout the shoot, the actor enjoyed showcasing a variety of poses and expressions, fully immersing himself in the new concept.
In an interview that followed, Kim Young Dae opened up about his growth through the role of Kim Ji Wook in No Gain No Love. Reflecting on the experience, he shared, “If life is like an ocean, there are countless waves within it. Personally, I’m someone who sways easily with those waves, but Ji Wook is steady. Despite the storms he’s faced since childhood, he remains calm on the surface. I’d like to learn to maintain that kind of composure in life.”
Since his debut in 2017, Kim Young Dae has steadily built an impressive filmography, working tirelessly year after year. When asked what drives him, he responded, “There’s nothing more certain than experience. I never hesitated when it came to acting opportunities. I strongly believed my twenties were a time to gain as much experience as possible.”
He added, “There are moments when I can just feel my capacities expanding, when what I used to struggle with becomes second nature. It’s an incredibly rewarding feeling, and it’s the sweet payoff for all the time I’ve spent honing my craft.”
Following No Gain No Love, Kim is set to return to screens in the upcoming TVING original drama Dear X, where he will play a “Daddy Long Legs” figure to Kim Yoo Jung’s character, Baek Ah Jin. “Director Lee Eung Bok is leading the project, and I think it’s going to be a very dynamic drama,” Kim said, heightening anticipation for his next role.
