Han Ji Min and Lee Je Hoon have been selected as the new MCs for this year’s Blue Dragon Film Awards!
On September 24, it was officially announced that actors Han Ji Min and Lee Je Hoon will be the new MCs for the 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards ceremony, which will be held on November 29 at KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul.
Han Ji Min made her big screen debut in 2005 with “Blue Swallow.” Since then, she appeared in various films such as “The Cut,” “Detective K: Secret of the Virtuous Widow,” “The Fatal Encounter,” “Salut D’Amour,” and “The Age of Shadows.” Han Ji Min won Best Actress at the 39th Blue Dragon Film Awards in 2018 for “Miss Baek,” solidifying her acting prowess. Following in the footsteps of Kim Hye Soo, who has led the Blue Dragon Film Awards for 30 years since the 14th ceremony in 1993 up until last year’s 44th ceremony, Han Ji Min is set to continue the legacy as the new MC.
Regarding her selection, Han Ji Min expressed her thoughts, sharing, “When I think about the stature and legacy of Kim Hye Soo, I couldn’t even imagine taking on the role of MC after her. I deeply felt the [big] presence of Kim Hye Soo, who has represented the Blue Dragon Film Awards, and I send her my utmost respect once again. I will strive to uphold the tradition and dignity she has established.”
Lee Je Hoon is also set to take on the challenge as the new male MC of the Blue Dragon Film Awards. After debuting in the 2006 short film “Truth, Litmus,” he won Best New Actor at the 32nd Blue Dragon Film Awards with the 2011 film “Bleak Night”, which made a significant mark in the Korean independent film scene.
Lee Je Hoon shared his aspirations, saying, “When I was offered the role of MC for the Blue Dragon Film Awards, which has been loved by so many for a long time, I felt a mix of worry and overwhelming emotion. As an actor and a person who genuinely loves films, I thought it would be an unparalleled honor to host the Blue Dragon Film Awards, which I have admired since my childhood. I will prepare with utmost sincerity to ensure that I do not disappoint the many filmmakers and audiences who see this as a celebration. I will do my best to uphold the prestige and dignity of the Blue Dragon Film Awards, which has been built by many senior actors including Kim Hye Soo.”
