Netflix has officially confirmed that Hellbound will return for its highly anticipated second season on October 25th. A chilling teaser has been unveiled along with the release date, giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come.
The dystopian series first captivated global audiences in 2021, quickly rising to the top of Netflix’s charts. It secured the No. 1 spot in the Best Horror Series category on Golden Tomato and amassed 110 million viewing hours within its first ten days. It also made the Top 10 list in 93 countries, earning both critical and fan acclaim worldwide.
Season 2 promises to dive deeper into the chaos as the world becomes increasingly overwhelmed by all the condemnations. The return of Jung Jin Su (Kim Sung Cheol), who has mysteriously resurrected, brings even more confusion and turmoil. Meanwhile, lawyer Min Hye Jin (Kim Hyun Joo) must navigate the newly intertwined agendas of the New Truth Society and The Arrowhead.
The teaser has already generated excitement, revealing the resurrection of Jung Jin Su, the first Chairman of The New Truth, along with the shocking twist that he received a decree from the angels 20 years ago. The trailer hints at his secret execution, his revival, and his frantic attempts to escape the hellish creatures as flames engulf him. Resurrected in the very place where he was condemned, the scene raises intriguing questions about what lies ahead for his character.
Director Yeon Sang Ho shared his excitement about the return of the series, stating, “As someone who loves the ‘Hellbound’ universe, I’m both excited and nervous with anticipation for the series to meet fans after three years. For anyone who enjoyed the first season, Season 2 will be filled with interesting questions to think about.”
