Yoo Ah In has been cleared of same-sex assault allegations due to insufficient evidence. According to reports from Chosun Ilbo, the Seoul Yongsan Police Station decided not to forward the case for prosecution on September 11th. After investigating both the accuser and Yoo Ah In once each, the police concluded that there was not enough evidence to support the allegations.

Yoo Ah In was accused of quasi-rape on July 15th. The accuser, identified as A, claimed that Yoo sexually assaulted him while he was asleep in an officetel in Yongsan, Seoul, on July 14th. Under current law, same-sex sexual assault falls under the charge of quasi-rape.

The police interviewed the accuser on July 25th and summoned Yoo Ah In for questioning on August 28th, also conducting a drug test, which reportedly came back negative. They reviewed security camera footage from the area to corroborate the details of the allegations.

Yoo Ah In has consistently denied the accusations. The actor’s legal representative, attorney Bang Jeong Hyeon, stated, “We clarify that the allegations against Yoo Ah In are not true. We ask that people refrain from unnecessary speculation regarding his private life.”

This case follows another legal issue for Yoo Ah In. Earlier this month, he was sentenced to one year in prison and fined 2 million KRW (approx. $1,500 USD) in the first trial for violating the Narcotics Control Act, marijuana use, incitement to destruction of evidence, and other charges. He is currently serving his sentence at the Seoul Detention Center.
