tvN’s upcoming drama “Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born” has shared stills featuring Jung Eun Chae!
Based on a popular webtoon, the upcoming drama is directed by Jung Ji In, known for “The Red Sleeve.” Set in the 1950s, shortly after the Korean War, the series follows Jeong Nyeon, a young vocal prodigy who dreams of becoming a top traditional theater actor. The show explores Jeong Nyeon’s journey through competition, teamwork, and personal growth amid a difficult era for the nation. The drama stars Kim Tae Ri, Shin Ye Eun, Ra Mi Ran, Jung Eun Chae, and Kim Yoon Hye—and also features a special appearance by Moon So Ri.
Jung Eun Chae portrays Moon Ok Kyung, a top star of the Maeran Women’s Gukguek-dan, the most popular troupe of the era. Despite her consistently relaxed and easygoing smile, she is known for her inscrutable poker face and rarely reveals her true feelings.
In the newly released stills, Jung Eun Chae displays the traits of a top star from the Maeran Women’s Gukguek-dan. Her stylish short haircut, well-fitted shirt, relaxed expression, and warm smile captivate viewers.
One image shows her gracefully drumming on a beautiful, serene pavilion, highlighting her unique beauty and elegance as an artist. Most impressive is her stage presence. Her intense gaze and commanding demeanor, even with heavy stage makeup, draw attention. This has increased excitement for Jung Eun Chae’s performance as she prepares to shine as a leading star in traditional theater.
The production team said, “In the drama, Jung Eun Chae’s character introduces Kim Tae Ri’s character to the world of traditional theater and is a top star admired by Jeong Nyeon (Kim Tae Ri).” They added, “Jung Eun Chae fits her role so well that the staff on set nicknamed her ‘Prince Charming.’ We hope audiences will be excited for her performance.”
“Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born” premieres on October 12 at 9:20 p.m. KST.
