Netflix’s highly anticipated historical film, Uprising, has confirmed its worldwide release for October 11th and unveiled a dramatic new launch poster.

The film brings together an impressive cast including Kang Dong Won, Park Jung Min, Kim Shin Rock, Jin Sun Kyu, Jung Sung Il, and Cha Seung Won. With a script penned by Shin Cheol and Park Chan Wook, and direction by Kim Sang Man, Uprising promises to captivate viewers across the globe with its powerful storytelling and stylish direction.

Set during the chaos of the Japanese invasion of Korea, Uprising tells the story of Jong Ryeo (Park Jung Min), the son of Joseon’s top military family, and his servant Cheon Yeong (Kang Dong Won). Once raised together, the two are now on opposite sides as Cheon Yeong serves as a guerrilla fighter and Jong Ryeo stands by King Seonjo (Cha Seung Won).

Selected as the opening film for the 29th Busan International Film Festival, Uprising is already generating buzz. Jeong Han Seok, a programmer for the festival, called the film “a sophisticated and powerful historical epic that shines in every aspect.” Set in an era when the king abandoned his people, leaving civilians to fight for their lives and later be branded as rebels, the film intricately portrays those who fight against fate.

The newly released poster features a gripping image of a hand wrapped in red cloth holding a raised sword, symbolizing the chaos and conflict that drives the film. Kang Dong Won plays Cheon Yeong, a servant with unrivaled swordsmanship, while Park Jung Min stars as Jong Ryeo, the son of a prestigious military family, both fighting against their respective destinies.

The supporting cast includes Kim Shin Rock as Beom Dong, a resilient guerrilla fighter; Jin Sun Kyu as Kim Ja Ryeong, a nobleman leading civilians through the chaos; Jung Sung Il as the brutal Japanese commander Genshin; and Cha Seung Won as the cowardly king who flees his people in their time of need. The ensemble promises to deliver electrifying performances.
