Seoul Central District Court has sentenced Yoo Ah In to one year in prison and ordered his immediate arrest for habitual drug use. His accomplice, Choi, was sentenced to eight months in prison with probation for two years.
The Seoul Central District Court held a first-instance trial for Yoo Ah In and his associate Choi, who were indicted on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act, on September 3rd.
The court sentenced Yoo Ah In to one year in prison for violating the Narcotics Control Act and other charges. His associate, artist Choi, was sentenced to eight months in prison with probation for two years.
Yoo Ah In was indicted last October on charges of habitually injecting propofol and other drugs at hospitals in Seoul 181 times between 2020 and 2022. The drugs he was found to have used include propofol, midazolam, ketamine and remifentanil.
Additionally, he was charged with illegally purchasing over 1,100 tablets of the sleeping pills Stilnox and Xanax, which were prescribed under the names of others, between 2021 and 2022. He was also accused of obtaining prescriptions for these drugs 44 times under the names of six people.
In January of last year, he was also charged with smoking marijuana in the United States with four accomplices, including his associate Choi, and instructing others to smoke marijuana.
