Shin Seul Gi will be teaming up with BTOB’s Yook Sungjae and WJSN’s Bona for a new fantasy drama!
On August 28, it was officially announced that Shin Seul Gi, who first gained popularity on the Netflix dating show “Single’s Inferno 2,” had been cast in the upcoming series “Gwigoong” (romanized title). Yook Sungjae, Bona and Kim Ji Hoon were all previously confirmed to be starring in the drama.
“Gwigoong” is a fantasy historical romantic comedy about the Eight Feet Tall spirit that bears a grudge against the king, a female shaman who opposes it, and an Imugi. In Korean folklore, an Imugi is an imaginary creature that spends a millennium in water and is able to transform into a dragon upon acquiring a magical jewel known as Yeouiju.
Shin Seul Gi will play the role of Choi In Sun, the only daughter of the esteemed Choi Won Woo family in Joseon. Choi In Sun is known for her pure and honest nature. Her plot revolves around her misunderstanding that it was royal inspector Yoon Gap (Yook Sung Jae) who saved her from a terminal illness, rather than the healer Yeo Ri (Bona).
Notably, Bona and Shin Seul Gi previously starred together in the drama “Pyramid Game,” raising anticipation for what sort of dynamic they will bring to this new drama.
“Gwigoong” is scheduled to premiere in 2025 via SBS.
