BTS member Suga is facing increasing criticism following allegations of neglect of duty during his alternative military service. In addition to a recent DUI incident, multiple complaints have been filed suggesting that Suga’s participation in his social service duties was lacking.

The allegations originated from a post on “Gongik Ingan” (translated as Public Human), a mobile app for alternative service personnel. A user named “Pyungbal Seon Gwan Wi” (translated as Flat Feet Election Commission) claimed to have undergone basic training with Suga in November of last year. According to the user, Suga frequently skipped training sessions and appeared disinterested in his responsibilities, despite being a team leader.

The user stated, “Suga did not attend a single class during the four-day, five-night training. Even the instructors commented on his behavior, and he would often wake up, nod, and go back to sleep after checking his phone.” The user further mentioned that Suga’s team’s participation rate was the lowest in the group. Suga underwent basic training with fellow BTS member J-hope at the Social Service Training Center in Boeun County.

Team leaders are typically selected by their peers and are responsible for overseeing their team’s activities. Those who successfully complete their duties are often awarded certificates and additional leave. However, it remains unclear whether Suga received such recognition.

The allegations against Suga gained traction late last year and resurfaced following the recent DUI incident. A new complaint has been filed urging the Military Manpower Administration to thoroughly investigate Suga’s conduct.

The complainant argued that Suga’s DUI was a direct result of his “neglectful attitude towards his duties” and called for a review of CCTV footage from the service site. The complainant also demanded that the agency investigate the overall management of alternative service personnel and take strict action against any wrongdoing.

The Seoul Regional Military Manpower Administration has received both complaints and has initiated an investigation into the matter.
