As ADOR’s Min Hee Jin faces allegations of “stealing” NewJeans members from Source Music, the parents of the girls have stepped forward to address the controversy.

On the 24th, Sports World published interviews with the parents of NewJeans members Minji, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein. The parents expressed their frustration and anger over the Dispatch article claiming that Min Hee Jin had taken the NewJeans members away from Source Music and the subsequent response from HYBE.

Minji’s mother recalled her first visit to the accommodation where Minji was staying as a trainee at Source Music, describing the shock she felt at seeing mold and cockroaches in the room. She also mentioned that Source Music had pressured Minji, passionate about her studies, to give up her academic pursuits.

The parents collectively voiced their dissatisfaction, stating, “We were promised that NewJeans would debut as ‘HYBE’s first girl group,’ but LE SSERAFIM debuted first, and NewJeans was neglected and mistreated.” This account sharply contrasts with the claims made in the Dispatch report.

According to Dispatch, Source Music had been preparing the N Team (now NewJeans) since 2018, aiming for a debut in the third quarter of 2021. Min Hee Jin was responsible for branding the N Team but allegedly delayed necessary tasks, postponing the debut. The report also mentioned that she had consulted a shaman during the process.

However, Minji’s mother contradicted this narrative, saying, “Minji was neglected at Source Music with no clear explanations or plans. There was no concrete plan or team for a debut.” She emphasized, “Min Hee Jin stuck with the girls because she couldn’t abandon them, which is why they could debut as NewJeans.”

Haerin and Hyein’s mothers echoed similar sentiments, stating, “We never received any explanation from So Seong Jin, the CEO of Source Music, before moving to ADOR. We are fully satisfied with ADOR and have no reason to leave.”

The mothers urged HYBE to let ADOR operate independently, noting that even Hani’s mother in Australia shared their views. They called for an end to spreading misinformation that misrepresents the truth.
