Controversy has erupted over (G)I-DLE’s stage outfits featuring Red Cross symbols, prompting an apology from their agency.

On the 22nd, it was reported that (G)I-DLE performed their new song “Klaxon” on the July 19th episode of KBS’s Music Bank wearing outfits emblazoned with the words “Lifeguard” and Red Cross emblems. Photos of the members in these outfits were also posted on their official social media accounts.

The use of the Red Cross symbols without permission drew criticism, with many questioning the appropriateness of the outfits. Online comments included, “Is it okay to sexualize professional uniforms?” and “Did they get permission from the Red Cross, or is this a collaboration?” Others expressed disbelief that no one raised concerns before the performance.

According to Article 25 of the Korean Red Cross Act, only authorized individuals or organizations, such as the Red Cross or military medical institutions, can use the Red Cross emblem. Unauthorized use can result in fines of up to 10 million KRW (approximately 7,700 USD) or penalties up to 5 million KRW (approximately 3,850 USD).

In response to the controversy, Cube Entertainment issued a statement, saying, “We acknowledge the issue with the stage outfits and have contacted the Korean Red Cross to apologize. We are actively discussing measures to prevent this from happening again. We sincerely apologize to everyone affected.”
