Ahn Hyo Seop talked about his first solo trip to Korea on the latest episode of YouTube show Salon Drip 2.
The actor first chatted about his recent vacation in LA. “I went to LA, and the weather was great. I got a nice tan from spending so much time in the sun. I mostly just relaxed, swimming, eating, and enjoying coffee while spacing out,” he said. “It was my first real vacation in almost six or seven years, so it was a really memorable trip.”
Jang Do Yeon, the emcee, then asked if he ever considered a stage name before his debut. “Yeah, I thought about Anthony,” Ahn Hyo Seop revealed. Jang Do Yeon jokingly mentioned H.O.T’s Tony Ahn, and Ahn Hyo Seop laughed, “Oh right! I totally forgot about that, it was just a fleeting thought. Nothing more.”
The conversation shifted to Ahn Hyo Seop’s life path. “Living the actor life now, but do you ever wonder what you’d be doing if you weren’t acting?” Jang Do Yeon asked. Ahn Hyo Seop replied, “Honestly, I think I would’ve gone into business or something creative. Maybe something like sculpting or painting – anything where I could create something.”
Jang Do Yeon then brought up the challenges he faced with cultural differences when he first moved to Korea at 17. “Even though I’m Korean, I grew up somewhere else, so there were these ideas of who I should be,” he explained. “It was really tough at first. I actually wanted to leave after just three days. The new environment was overwhelming, and I missed my family. But things got better,” he assured. “I wouldn’t say I just toughed it out, I think I just adjusted well. Luckily, no one made it difficult for me.”
