SBS’s “Connection” has shared a making-of video!
“Connection” is a crime thriller starring Ji Sung as Jang Jae Kyung, a well-respected detective who is the ace of the narcotics unit. Jeon Mi Do stars as Oh Yoon Jin, an opinionated and outspoken reporter who works at a newspaper. Kwon Yool portrays prosecutor Park Tae Jin, who is known as the brain among his friends, and Kim Kyung Nam stars as Won Jong Soo, the vice chairman of Geum Hyun Group, who has both money and power.
The newly released making-of video unveils the secrets behind the scenes of Oh Yoon Jin’s awkward birthday and the never-ending running scene of the previous episodes.
In a pivotal scene at Jang Jae Kyung’s house, Oh Yoon Jin and Heo Joo Seong (Jung Soon Won) convene to discuss a case, only to be caught off guard by Choi Ji Yeon (Jung Yoo Min), who arrives unexpectedly. Adding to the tension, it happens to be Yoon Jin’s birthday, and Joo Seong’s attempt at a surprise turns awkward when Ji Yeon provokes both Jae Kyung and Yoon Jin, triggering an explosive reaction from Yoon Jin. Despite Joo Seong’s effort to salvage the situation with a cake, the atmosphere remains strained.
During rehearsals, Jeon Mi Do is visibly moved to tears but quickly regains her composure to stay in character and return to her portrayal of an angry Yoon Jin. Ji Sung and Jung Soon Won also collaborate to adjust the scene, opting to omit the sunglasses that Jung Soon Won was originally supposed to wear while holding the cake, aiming to maintain the scene’s seriousness.
Transitioning to the running scene, Jung Yoon Ho (Lee Kang Wook) appears at a phone booth near Jae Kyung’s house. As Ji Sung and Jeon Mi Do rush out, Jung Soon Won clumsily runs after them, losing a shoe along the way, which prompts laughter from the cast. It turns out he did it intentionally to add variety to the scene, although it didn’t make the final cut. Ji Sung then takes on his running scene with determination, portraying his character’s desperation to catch Lee Kang Wook. He demonstrates his commitment by asking for another attempt at a higher speed.
Filming continues with a scene where Ji Sung, Jeon Mi Do, and Jung Soon Won converse near the phone booth. Once again, Jung Soon Won displays his humorous side by arriving last after running, despite having no dialogue. He improvises with gag sounds of vomiting and exaggerated sighs of exhaustion, bringing laughter to the set.
