The police have initiated an investigation into a fan who attempted to kiss BTS’s Jin without his consent.
On June 18th, the Seoul Songpa Police Station announced, “We have begun an investigation into a fan who attempted to kiss Jin, following a complaint filed for violating the Sexual Violence Punishment Act.”
The incident occurred on June 13th during a “Hug Event” at Seoul’s Jamsil Indoor Stadium, celebrating BTS’s 11th anniversary. Jin hugged 1,000 fans, but controversy arose when a fan was caught on video attempting to kiss his face. The video quickly spread online, igniting a debate about sexual harassment.
Another fan, A, filed a complaint and shared the status of the investigation online. A revealed, “For an indecent act to be established, the victim must have felt ‘sexual shame.’ Following that, a travel ban and further investigation can proceed. I reported the fans who sexually harassed Jin to the police for violating Article 11 of the Sexual Violence Punishment Act.”
Meanwhile, Jin has recently completed his 18-month military service. He was officially discharged from the 5th Infantry Division recruit training center in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province, on the morning of June 12th.
