Choi Jin Hyuk has shared his thoughts on his upcoming drama “Miss Night and Day”!
“Miss Night and Day” is a romantic comedy about a young job seeker who suddenly finds herself trapped in the body of a 50-year-old woman and a skilled prosecutor who becomes entangled with her. The drama is helmed by director Lee Hyeong Min of the hit series “I’m Sorry, I Love You” and “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon.”
Choi Jin Hyuk takes on the role of Gye Ji Woong, a prosecutor in the narcotics investigation unit who finds himself caught up day and night with Im Soon (Lee Jung Eun) and Lee Mi Jin (Apink’s Jeong Eun Ji). Known for being an extreme workaholic with a stellar resume, academic background, and striking visuals, he maintains a relentless pace throughout the year and holds a zero-tolerance policy for errors. Due to his colleagues quitting one by one, he becomes intertwined with the mysterious intern Im Soon and her alternate identity, Lee Mi Jin.
On why he chose to star in the drama, Choi Jin Hyuk revealed, “I found it very appealing that the drama wasn’t limited to just one genre, but allowed you to enjoy multiple genres simultaneously, including romance, fantasy, and thriller. I chose the drama because I believed that the different genres would allow me to showcase different aspects of my acting.”
Choi Jin Hyuk described his character Gye Ji Woong as “a character who seems cold and rigid, but has a clumsy, relatable side with comedic elements.” He also shared that he put a lot of thought into portraying the various facets of the character.
“Contrary to his sharp first impression, Gye Ji Woong has a warm and affectionate side,” he continued, “and his tough-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside nature will enrich the drama. I worked hard to prepare so that viewers would naturally smile while watching.”
He further highlighted Gye Ji Woong’s duality by describing him as “cold and aloof, yet easily embarrassed and utterly vulnerable around his loved ones.” The actor also shed light on the character’s workaholic nature, stating, “Gye Ji Woong is the official workaholic of the Prosecutors’ Office. There’s a reason why he’s such a workaholic, so please keep an eye out for it.”
As for his action scenes, Choi Jin Hyuk commented, “They are not major action scenes, but there are a few scenes that I personally put a lot of effort into. They turned out well, so I’m personally satisfied with them. You can safely look forward to them.”
The actor went on to conclude, “[‘Miss Night and Day’] is a drama with a lot of comedic elements and a relatable storyline that everyone can enjoy. I believe viewers will find it particularly entertaining to watch the blend of genres, how the characters transform to match each genre, and the contrasting sides of Gye Ji Woong.”
“Miss Night and Day” will premiere on June 15 at 10:30 p.m. KST.
