MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama “Bitter Sweet Hell” has released its third teaser!
“Bitter Sweet Hell” is a black comedy starring Kim Hee Sun as Noh Young Won, the top family psychiatrist in all of Korea. When an anonymous blackmailer puts her career and family at risk, Noh Young Won teams up with her mother-in-law Hong Sa Gang (Lee Hye Young), a mystery novelist, to protect their family.
“Bitter Sweet Hell” is highly anticipated with its star-studded cast, including Kim Hee Sun, Lee Hye Young, Kim Nam Hee, Jae Chan, Yeonwoo, Hwang Chan Sung, Shin So Yul, and more, who will portray the intricately intertwined relationships of the characters. Adding to the excitement, director Lee Dong Hyun, known for his nuanced directing in “Doctor Lawyer” and “She Knows Everything,” teams up with writer Nam Ji Yeon, acclaimed for her vibrant characters and fast-paced storytelling in the drama “So I Married the Anti-Fan.”
In the teaser, Noh Young Won’s anger erupts like a sudden storm, her voice ringing out with frustration. Meanwhile, her husband Choi Jae Jin (Kim Nam Hee) dances joyfully, seemingly unaware of the tension, as another woman casually shaves him. Noh Young Won asks a powerful question, her eyes filled with determination, wondering if someone who deceives you for 15 years can still be considered family. Amidst the emotional turmoil, Hong Sa Gang (Lee Hye Young) approaches her tearful daughter-in-law, her voice filled with empathy.
In a tense moment, the phrase, “My ally who seems like not my ally?” appears, adding suspense as Hong Sa Gang strikes eerie poses while dancing. A voice warns, “Be careful. There might be a novel about a daughter-in-law’s murder.” Noh Young Won’s expression, filled with intrigue and complexity, contrasts with Hong Sa Gang’s actions at the keyboard, muttering as a dog bark in the background.
However, this supposed ally led Noh Young Won to mistrust Hong Sa Gang, with someone accusing Hong Sa Gang of being a witch and implying she’s untrustworthy. In another scene, Noh Young Won is seen behind bars, her mother-in-law sitting opposite, urging Noh Young Won to trust her. This incident likely triggered their uneasy partnership as they breach a crime scene despite Noh Young Won’s reluctance. They continue their mission together, but Noh Young Won remains suspicious of her mother-in-law’s true motives as they encounter dangerous incidents, hiding in a wardrobe and boarding a ferry in search of something. A car is also seen submerged in water, its occupants unknown. The teaser ends with Hong Sa Gang calmly stating, “Don’t you get it yet? We’re a team now.”
