“The Midnight Romance in Hagwon” has shared a sneak peek into the colorful charms of its current and potential instructors!
“The Midnight Romance in Hagwon” is set against the backdrop of Daechi, a neighborhood renowned as the epicenter of private education in Korea. The plot centers around an instructor who tirelessly assists a student named Lee Joon Ho (Wi Ha Joon) in gaining admission to a prestigious university. In a twist of fate, Lee Joon Ho later returns to the academy as a rookie instructor after resigning from a large company because he remains fixated on his first love, his academy teacher Seo Hye Jin (Jung Ryeo Won), even after becoming an adult. A new drama is helmed by director Ahn Pan Seok, who produced various hit romance dramas such as “Something in the Rain,” “One Spring Night,” and “Secret Love Affair,”
The newly released stills depict a tension-filled audition scene at the private academy, where aspiring instructors vie for positions. However, Seo Hye Jin looks disapproving upon seeing her former student Joon Ho, for whom she worked hard to get into a prestigious university. Despite her cold gaze, Joon Ho exudes confidence as he delivers a test lecture before experienced instructors who will decide whether to hire him.
Another candidate, Nam Cheong Mi (So Ju Yeon), goes out of her way to even wear a school uniform to secure the job. Her bright smile and relaxed manner hint at her thorough preparation for the audition, sparking anticipation about how her meticulous and diligent attitude will translate into skilled lecturing.
Additional stills capture more prominent figures, including Kim Hyun Tak (Kim Jong Tae), the head of the academy who handpicked Seo Hye Jin. As he carefully evaluates each candidate, deputy head Woo Seung Hee (Kim Jeong Yeong) maintains a vigilant eye as well. Meanwhile, Yoon Ji Seok (Jang In Sub), head of the English team, appears satisfied with the candidates’ talents, setting the stage for multifaceted character dynamics in Daechi’s competitive ecosystem.
In yet another stills, Choi Ji Eun (Jang So Yeon), who handles administrative work at the academy, and Kim Hyo Im (Gil Hae Yeon), who calls herself an expert on college admissions, showcase their strong presence. The final still also portrays Choi Hyung Sun (Seo Jeong Yeon)’s sullen face, who runs the rival academy.
Regarding teamwork with other actors, Jung Ryeo Won commented, “I truly felt like we were working at the same academy. Filming was pleasant as if we became one.” Wi Ha Joon also shared, “I felt and learned a lot by getting to know actors with various charms. Their acting was always admirable. The filming set was brimming with positive energy, making the work enjoyable.”
“The Midnight Romance in Hagwon” will premiere on May 11 at 9:20 p.m. KST as the follow-up to “Queen of Tears.”
