“Bad Memory Eraser” keeps things interesting every week, and as the plot thickens, it’s making viewers more curious to know how things will unfold in this K-drama. In last week’s episodes we get to see a whole new facet in both Lee Kun (Kim Jae Joong) and Kyung Joo Yeon (Jin Se Yeon) as well as a small development in their relationship. We also get to see more about other characters, plus a lot of new hints at what exactly happened during Lee Kun’s accident. The most significant thing for now is that at least our main couple is starting to form a bond that compels them to support and help each other. Could this be the key to their future relationship? Let’s find out! Here are some of the moments where both Lee Kun and Joo Yeon took each other’s side and formed a united front.
Warning: spoilers from episodes 5-6 below!
1. Trying to find a sponsor for Lee Kun’s agency
In the past few episodes, we saw Lee Kun struggling to get closer to Kyung Joo Yeon, who was trying her best to keep her distance from him since she had great uncertainties about pretending to be his first love. However, as Lee Kun’s focus starts to divert toward growing his agency, one of the things Kyung Joo Yeon decides to do is supporting him in his endeavors. Despite trying to be detached and keeping her distance not only from her patients but from his colleagues as well, she can’t seem to be all that indifferent to Lee Kun’s dreamy eyes everytime they are together, and she doesn’t ruthlessly reject him.
So when it is evident that Lee Kun won’t stay quietly in the hospital, Joo Yeon appoints herself as Lee Kun’s medical guardian, following him to a horse racing venue where he plans to find his first big investor. Displaying his great abilities to identify advantages and disadvantages even in horses, he succeeds in getting the interest of the investor, impressing Joo Yeon in the process as well. Even more, he takes this chance to smoothly approach her, making her heart flutter the moment he nonchalantly puts on her seatbelt for her. As he is well aware of her boundaries, he tries to keep a respectful distance, but anyone can tell he also knows when and where to take his chance to pursue her.
2. Confronting Kyung Joo Yeon’s boyfriend
One of the most satisfying things to watch in these couple of episodes was when Joo Yeon finally realizes the type of trash that she is dating. Naturally, Lee Kun was already aware of this, but he doesn’t say anything until she hears for herself that this man is only playing with her and is cheating with another colleague. Although she hesitates to confront him about his deceit, still lingering on the feelings he supposedly had for her, Lee Kun doesn’t hold back anymore. He goes to tell him to stop messing around with Joo Yeon, showing a fierceness that we hadn’t seen until that moment.
Sadly, confused and wounded, Joo Yeon lashes out against Lee Kun, who accepts to stop meddling in her affairs after understanding that she isn’t willing to open up to him or to anybody. It is only until she realizes that her personal feelings have put Lee Kun into a dangerous situation—since the neurosurgery team performs an unconventional test on him without informing her beforehand—that she finally faces off her colleague and refuses to hand down the information about her research. But by the time she is aware of her mistake, Lee Kun has made the decision to stop pursuing her, fighting his feelings and taking a completely cold attitude towards her.
3. Kyung Joo Yeon offering to work in Lee Kun’s agency
After only six episodes, it’s time now for Joo Yeon to chase after Lee Kun. Though it isn’t exactly in a romantic way, she endures Lee Kun’s detached attitude towards her and follows him around in order to be the attendant doctor at his agency, something that isn’t easy for her to say the least. For starters, the fact that she knows little to nothing about tennis is already a disadvantage, which puts her in a clueless position in front of the athletes. Apart from this, she also can’t get used to Lee Kun giving her the cold shoulder after all the time he spent trying to win her heart, but since he is trying his best to control his feelings for her, it is only fair that she now respects his distance.
For better or for worse, Lee Kun can’t be indifferent toward Joo Yeon as he inadvertently keeps giving in to her, even if that means being in an awkward position or getting hurt. Despite his efforts, he is still interested in her, something that not only worries his best friend but also viewers as well since it looks like Lee Shin (Lee Jong Won) is also falling in love with her. Having a love triangle isn’t the best scenario for them at all, considering that Lee Shin did date Jeon Sae Yan (Yang Hye Ji), Lee Kun’s true first love. It is yet to be seen how much more entangled their love story will be in the future. Furthermore, there’s still the question of how exactly Lee Shin was involved in his brother’s accident. With all of these enigmas to be resolved, let’s eagerly wait for the upcoming episodes of “Bad Memory Eraser”!
