KBS2’s upcoming weekend drama “Iron Family” has viewers eagerly anticipating its premiere!
Penned by screenwriter Seo Sook Hyang of “Pasta,” “Don’t Dare to Dream” (also known as “Jealousy Incarnate”), and “Wok of Love,” “Iron Family” is a dark comedy about a family that has run a laundry business for three generations.
Kim Jung Hyun plays Seo Kang Joo, an executive director of Jiseung Group, while Shin Hyun Joon takes on the role of Ji Seung Don, the chairman of Jiseung Group and Kang Joo’s stepfather. Kim Hye Eun stars as Baek Ji Yeon, Kang Joo’s biological mother and Seung Don’s wife.
Here are three reasons to anticipate the complicated relationships among the three members of the Jiseung Group family.
The relationship between Seo Kang Joo and his stepfather Ji Seung Don
Baek Ji Yeon, who raised Seo Kang Joo as a single mother, successfully marries Ji Seung Don. Despite Kang Joo not being Seung Don’s biological child, Seung Don raises him sternly, hoping that Kang Joo will take after him. Rumors circulate within the company that Kang Joo isn’t Seung Don’s real son, and Kang Joo struggles to earn Seung Don’s affection. However, reality doesn’t align with his wishes, and Kang Joo becomes sidelined in the company. Although Seung Don is a strict stepfather, Kang Joo loves and respects him more than his mother. But as a rift begins to form between the two, viewers are left wondering what challenges await them.
Baek Ji Yeon’s secret
Baek Ji Yeon, who lives with an inflated sense of self-importance, loves money and beautiful things. She has been harboring a secret left by her father, a once-prominent moneylender, before he passed away. Ji Yeon is anxious that this significant secret, which she hasn’t even disclosed to her son Kang Joo or her husband Seung Don, might be exposed. She eventually gets caught with a very costly secret. This incident shocks Ji Yeon, forcing her to reveal her long-hidden secret to both Kang Joo and Seung Don. How Ji Yeon will overcome this crisis is set to be a major highlight of the drama.
The fate of the three family members
The thing Seung Don hates most in the world is lies. When he discovers that Ji Yeon has been hiding a secret from him for 15 years, Seung Don feels deeply betrayed. Will Seung Don be able to forgive Ji Yeon and return to their once-peaceful life? The story of these three family members—including Ji Yeon, who becomes a sinner, and Kang Joo, who is caught between his parents—promises to captivate viewers.
The hidden family history of Jiseung Group’s three family members, who are facing a crisis, is expected to bring both laughter and thrilling tension to viewers.
“Iron Family” is set to premiere on September 28 at 7:55 p.m. KST.
