‘The Matchmakers’ Episode 1: Shim Jung Woo Banned Marriage After Losing His Wife
In “The Matchmakers” episode 1, Shim Jung Woo (Rowoon) becomes a man who is forbidden to remarry in the eyes of Princess Hyo Jung (Park Chae Young) after serving the youngest class at the age of 17, but this thing vanished when the princess suddenly died during their wedding.
Shim Jung Woo appealed to invalidate the marriage for eight years because of the tragedy he had.
On the other hand, Jung Soon Deok (Cho Yi Hyun) confessed that she was born to read someone’s destiny, in particular, in love. She transformed into a love guru, who lives a double life in their village.
Jung Soon Deok Had an Awkward Encounter With Shim Jung Woo
As she continued to do matchmaking, she instinctively pulled Shim Jung Woo towards her when he was heading to Hongwol Guest House. The two unexpectedly hugged each other and had their first meeting in an awkward situation.
Later on, Shim Jung Woo stumbled upon the novel “The Private Life of the Lady” instead of a knowledge book, which he requested Hong Cheon Soo (Jeong Seung Gil) to save for him. While they were arguing, Jung Soon Deok snatched the book and had a short yet fun fight with Jung Woo.

Shim Jung Woo was hurt by what he heard from Soon Deok and tried to talk to her. Days later the two met. Jung Woo confronted her and unexpectedly made a confession, which shocked Jung Soon Deok.
Their awkward relationship continued to get worse.
Shim Jung Woo Faces New Challenge Inside the Palace
On the other hand, Jung Woo was suddenly trapped in a problematic situation, in which the king pointed him out for providing a reason to prevent the crown prince from marrying. Before the end of the episode, it was ordered that ShimJung Woo would be executed due to his selfish decision.
Furthermore, “The Matchmakers” episode 1 recorded a viewership rating of 4.5 percent according to Nielsen Korea.
