As expected, the “Squid Game” team didn’t go home empty-handed after scoring multiple recognitions at the Critics Choice Awards 2022.

Lead stars Lee Jung Jae, Park Hae Soo, Jung Ho Yeon, and director Hwang Dong Hyuk graced the annual ceremony held at Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel, California.

Hosted by Taye Diggs and Nicole Byer, the 27th Critics Choice Awards gathered the biggest names in the entertainment industry to commemorate the best of the best in movies and television this year.

The Netflix series took home another trophy after being hailed as Critics Choice Awards 2022 Best Foreign Language in a Drama Series.

“Squid Game” defeated fellow nominees “Acapulco” (Apple TV+,) “Call My Agent!” (Netflix), “Lupin” (Netflix,) blockbuster series “Money Heist” (Netflix) and “Narcos: Mexico” (Netflix.)

It will be the third time that a K-content won the same category at the Critics Choice Awards.

In 2021, “Minari,” directed by Lee Isaac Chung, won the best foreign-language film. The same goes for Bong Joon Ho’s satire movie “Parasite,” scoring two categories in 2020. First is the best foreign-language film followed by the best direction award.

Unfortunately, “Squid Game” failed to score the Best Drama Series and lost to HBO’s “Succession,” which was declared as the Critics Choice Awards 2022 winner.

The “Chief of Staff” star is dominating Hollywood after scoring two consecutive wins for the Best Actor category.

Lee Jung Jae bagged Best Actor in a Drama Series for his role as player 456, Seong Gi Hoon in “Squid Game.”

The 49-year-old star edged Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong of “Succession,” Sterling K. Brown for “This Is Us,” Mike Colter in “Evil,” and Billy Porter for “Pose.”

Interestingly, this will be his third individual award for the same category.

His first was the historic win at the SAG Awards 2022, where he took home Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series. Meanwhile, his “Squid Game” co-star Jung Ho Yeon bagged the Best Female Award.

During his acceptance speech, he expressed his gratitude towards the “global audience” for their “love” and support for the tv show and of course, he also thanked his “Squid Game” team.

To recall, the survival-themed K-drama was named as the biggest show of Netflix after garnering 1.65 billion hours viewed during its first 28 days on the platform.

Apart from the multiple awards that the Netflix series took home, “Squid Game” lead stars Lee Jung Jae, Park Hae Soo, Jung Ho Yeon with director Hwang Dong Hyuk graced the red carpet with their jaw-dropping looks.

The rookie actress ditched the iconic red jumpsuit and wowed the crowd with her head-to-toe Louis Vuitton ensemble.

Jung Ho Yeon wore a sparkly gold dress with fringe details at the  Critics Choice Awards 2022 red carpet.

On the other hand, Lee Jung Jae and Park Hae Soo opted for a classic black tuxedo while the “Squid Game” director chose a gray suit.
