2021 has been amazing in terms of K-contents and rising, laudable actors. But according to the 2021 Global Hallyu Trend, superstar Lee Min Ho, K-drama “Crash Landing on You,” and more remain the most popular K-contents.
‘Crash Landing on You’ and ‘Parasite’ are the Most Selected K-Contents by International Fans
According to a report covered by Sports Donga on August 4, tvN’s megahit series “Crash Landing on You” and Oscar award winner “Parasite” remain unbeatable as these have been selected as the most preferred Korean dramas and movies by overseas fans.
Further, top actor Lee Min Ho once again proved his stature to be the best Hallyu star for 2021. This is actually his third year to receive such recognition!
As stated by the 2021 Global Hallyu Trend, published by the Korea International Cultural Exchange Agency, the popularity of the Korean Wave has remained prominent in different parts of the world despite the pandemic.
They included data from last year’s report, stating that exports of Korean cultural contents increased by 8.8 percent, and the Korean Wave has expanded and became in demand.
As of this year, the most selected Korean drama by international Hallyu fans is “Crash Landing on You,” which garnered a total of 9.5 percent. This is followed by “It’s Okay Not to Be Okay” with 4.1 percent, and “The World of the Married” with 2.8 percent.
Meanwhile, when it comes to films, “Parasite” is still the most-watched, which has 18.4 percent of votes from the fans, followed by zombie movies such as “Train to Busan,” “Peninsula,” and “#ALIVE.”

Lee Min Ho Stays Retains Top Spot as the Most Popular Korean Actor
For the actors category, Lee Min Ho topped the list and achieved an average percentage of 9.6. Lee Min Ho’s presence in the global scene has remained solid, not to mention that his projects and brand advertisements help in making his name more prevalent.
Following him on the list is A-List actor and “Crash Landing on You” star Hyun Bin, then by “Goblin” actor Gong Yoo, and Song Hye Kyo, who is slated to star in a new romance drama, “Now, We’re Breaking Up,” with Jang Ki Yong.
K-pop also has a big impact when it comes to the Hallyu wave. But the K-drama industry produces top-notch and compelling content. As a matter of fact, the actual consumption of Hallyu content for K-dramas has increased 29.6 percent!
